The Shay is a long coat cut from a soft, slightly napped cloth, with a hood instead of a collar and buttons running down the front. The shape is loose from the shoulder to the hem, with deep patch pockets at the hip and sleeves that turn back at the cuff. It falls to mid-calf. Nothing about it is tailored, which is exactly why it goes over jeans and a knit without any thought at all.
